From time to time he will get asked to renew meds that are being ordered by another provider (psychology, pain clinic, urology, etc.).
You have 2 options:
1. if pharmacy tagged you on a note to order the medication and it is not your medication you can make an addendum and tag the ordering provider and state, “alerting ordering provider” – just remember to sign the addendum, right click and select “identify additional signer” and select the appropriate person.
2. The other option is to click on the provider box (this is the box located right next to the yellow box that has the patient’s name, social security number and birth date on the top left of the chart) – there under “encounter provider” you will see your name, you can change the name to the ordering provider and click okay then proceed to order the med as you would normally. When you refresh the patient’s chart or proceed to the next chart you will not be prompted to sign, instead it will submit the order to the provider whose name is on there. You can do this for consults, imaging, medications, etc. as you deem appropriate.
a. If the order is already in your name, you can change the provider with the instructions above to the appropriate provider then click on the order and under the “Action" option on the toolbar select “Copy to New Order.” The order will then be copied as written under the new provider’s name. Delete the order under your name and leave the order for the other provider
