TIPS FOR THE SEASONED PROVIDERS

LABS

To learn about a certain lab test, you can go under "Tools" -> "Lab Test Information .." and a search box would open and you can use it as a reference for all lab testing available in the VA, and it also includes restrictions for the various tests. Click here for more details

When you want to search for a specific labs or see the trend over the years in a table, you go to the Labs tab -> Worksheet -> search for the lab (can add more than 1). But IF you find yourself looking for the same labs over and over again, instead of searching for it each time, you can press "New" under "Define Test Group". You can create different test groups so that the next time you only need to click that test group instead of UPEP, SPEP, ANA, etc. Click here for more details

RECORDS

To look for outside records (that are sometimes not in Vista Imaging), go to "Tools -> "Documents" -> "DocSearch"

You can back date a note in CPRS if you have entered a telephone note for example, by Notes -> New Note, choose your title and at the "Date/Time of Note:" box choose your time when you have spoken to the patient.

To reassign an order for another provider to sign: Up top, next to the patient info box is a "provider" box, click it, search for the "encounter provider" (the provider that you want to forward to), click on the visit type, and then "ok". Then you can order labs/medications/imaging, etc. in that provider's name. Then close the chart without signing anything. This will leave it for the other provider to sign if they agree.
